I don't want to spoil the book.... So here's a short version. The story of selling yourself to better your life with your sister has been done but I enjoyed the way the author had the characters interact with each other. The development was slow and steady and they built an actual relationship and trust with time. This part of the reading was great.

~~~~~SPOILER REVIEW BELOW~~~~~~~
Now for the rest of the book. Dawson was the one that found our heroine and he's barely in the book so I don't understand why he betrayed his boss whom he's been working with for a ling time. It also wasn't explained why he felt this bitterness to our heroine. Shouldn't he be glad that his boss found someone? How would she ease him out of a job anyway? Not like she knows a lit of fashion, she was a kid when she got on the streets so this bothered me.
Also, our hero takes down terrorists and yet a US senator who abused his power to try to molest and sexually assualt his wife who was then like 16 and her 11 year old sister, he didn't do anything to? Really? How does that work out? No charges we're pressed, nothing was done to him! He'll just do it to another child. He's a predator. This really bothered me. How could our hero just let him go?
Lastly, after all the time to hide and pain taken to avoid getting caught, I was let down in a big way when thr villan caught up with our heroine. I expected more than just barely a paragraph between them and that's it. I also don't get why the senator called the police. If he was planning on killing our heroine, why would he want the police around? Doesn't make sense......
His edition by Brenda Rothert Romance eBooks Reviews
I’ve read some amazing reviews about Brenda Rothert’s books. I own a few of her books and I’ve been wanting to read one of them for a while. I loved the sound of this book. I wondered how the homeless woman will meet the rich man. I loved His and it definitely won’t be my last read by this author.
Quinn and her little sister ran away from someone a few years ago. They have been living on the street since, because they need to hide. It’s not easy, but they are together and alive. Quinn is having a little break down when a man stops next to her and has proposition for her. She will get some money in exchange for one night with the man’s boss and that’s how Quinn meets Andrew. Andrew likes Quinn immediately and he has even a better proposition for her.
Quinn and Andrew are great characters. Quinn is so strong, brave and loving. She’s a little hopeless at the beginning, but she never gives up. She’s also very protective over her little sister. She would do anything for her. Her sister is the most important person in her life. Quinn is attracted to Andrew, but she tries to keep her distant from him because he’s not like her. She slowly starts to like Andrew and will trust him.
Andrew is rich, successful, closed off, controlling and a little mysterious. He has his reasons for offering women money for one night. He changes when Quinn moves in with him. He wants to make her feel good. He never gives up on her and he’s a patient man. I felt for Andrew in the prologue and what happened there affected his life. It was obvious that he’s hiding something and I never guessed what.
The book started out great, it captivated me right from the beginning. The first half of the story was well told appropriately paced to introduce the characters, their issues, and the overall storyline. I felt the slow build up to an epic relationship. But then the second part fell flat. Timing was off, the story rushed and cliched, the personality of the characters inconsistent and way over the top in terms of the happy ending. Shame, cause it took away the emotional attachment to the characters and the credibility of the story. I know this is fiction and I don't mind a fairy tale ending, but it needs to be in sync with all elements that make this story. Nevertheless, because of the first half, this was a good book. And I will continue reading Ms Rothert's stories.
My review of HIS
Brenda Rothert does it again! The book starts off strong and finishes just as strong. I didn't care for Andrew in the beginning of the book but he grew on me. Eventually, as the story unfolds, I understood why he reacted the way he does and why he was so detached from everyone. He was so patient and careful with Quinn. I couldn't help but love him for that reason. He never once pushed her when she would retreat into herself or protect herself. I like him. Quinn is just a strong woman. She's had to be. I respected her as a character. She is funny, caring, compassionate, loving, feisty, independent & most importantly strong. I really like how I felt her struggle to acclimate into a normal life. She was on alert & in survival mode throughout the book. That made me think about her living on the streets & worrying about her sister. I think the twist in Andrew's secret & Quinn and Bethy's aggressors identity was genius. And how about that assistant? 😡😡 I loved the book from start to finish. I received this in exchange for my honest opinion and my opinion is 5 STARS!!! Even though I received a copy I still bought the preordered copy - that's how good it is. I'll gift it to someone one day. ) Good job, Brenda! You did a fine job on this lovely story. I adore Andrew & Quinn together! I look forward to your next book!!
